Budgetry Issues Could be Nail in Coffin For Pier
A report into the redevelopment of the Ramsey Queen’s Pier has ruled that it’s too costly to go ahead anytime soon.
It’s original costing was estimated at £9 million, this has since shot up to £11 million.
The steering group headed up by Infrastructure Minister Phil Gawne with MHK David Quirk and MLC Alex Downie concluded at this current time spending such an amount would not be a viable option for the Manx Government.
Residents in the Ramsey area voted in favour of the development with an 81% majority, it’s thought of as being the catalyst for further improvements made to the northern town.
Alex Downie MLC said despite things not looking good for the short term it could feasibly happen a few years down the line.
