MHK To Probe Road Repairs Operation In House of Keys Today
A question will be asked in the House of Keys today regarding how much money is currently being spent on road repairs in light of the potholes left over from the Christmas cold snap.
Onchan MHK Peter Karran will ask the Treasury Minister Anne Craine if additional funds are to be allocated for the operation, and if so how will she go about ensuring all of the essential repairs are carried out.
The Department of Infrastructure’s works team have been patching up the roads since the snow and ice in December, with the work coming at a major expense to the department.
It's a major undertaking and impossible to completely resolve in a swift time scale say the Department.
3FM spoke to various members of the public to gauge their opinions on the matter, one woman said the patching works are proving to be a waste of time as the filler is already starting to come out, whilst another man said some of the Island's highways are currently of a third world standard.
