The public will now be able to have their say on whether or not the Bishop should retain his vote in Tynwald.
As it stands the Bishop is one of two people with voting powers in Tynwald, who are not indirectly answerable to the Manx Public.
MHK Lawrie Hooper brought forward a Private Members Bill late last year which received the required backing to progress to the public consultation stage.
Mr Hooper says it is all part of the journey of improving and strengthening democratic accountability on the Island.
