Cyclists, runners and walkers could soon be able to travel along a new route linking Douglas and Onchan, if government plans progress.
The Department of Infrastructure is proposing a cycleway between the two conurbations as part of its ‘active travel’ strategy.
Though still at an early design stage, the route is expected to start from Douglas town centre and pass through upper Douglas, Willaston, Governor’s Hill and Onchan.
Infrastructure Minister Ray Harmer says the majority of the route will be on quiet roads and footpaths, and where possible, it will pass through traffic free areas.
His department has sought permission in principle from Douglas Borough Council to lay part of the route through Nobles Park.
