The Isle of Man Prison will retain its 'smoke free' status - even if it introduces e-cigs into the lock up.
That's according to the Department of Home Affairs which wants Tynwald to approve the move saying it will provide a "practical, harm reduction approach".
Smoking was banned at the prison in 2008 when it relocated to Jurby - in 2011 a report claimed staff had 'lost control' of the ban with prisoners found smoking anything from pubic hair to fruit peel.
