Campaigners say the planning committee has refused permission to build hundreds of houses at Poyll Dooey.
Ramsey Commissioner Lamara Craine posted the news to Facebook after attending the meeting this morning where the proposals were discussed.
Developers had earmarked the area for 205 homes, sparking opposition from local people.
This morning, the committee turned down the planning application.
