Poultry keepers on the Isle of Man have been asked to take precautions after a bird flu outbreak in Europe.

Avian Influenza prevention zones have been imposed in England and Scotland after increased concerns surrounding the H5N8 strain.

The Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture says there's no evidence of the disease on the Isle of Man - it also poses no significant risk to human health.

However it's asking keepers to reduce the risk to domestic birds on the Island by preventing or reducing contact with wild birds.

It says the situation in Europe is due to seasonal movement of migratory birds on their normal flight paths to warmer climes for the winter.
