A chef from Grimsby had been on the Island for just two weeks when he assaulted a woman and gave police officers a false name, a court's heard.
25 year old Mohammed Nanu Miah, who works at the Kitchen of India in Port St Mary, admitted assault and obstructing police officers when he appeared before Deputy High Bailiff Jayne Hughes.
The court heard he'd attacked a woman on Douglas Promenade on December 2 after a night out with friends and given false details after he was arrested.
He was remanded in custody and will be sentenced on December 19.
