The constabulary says it's received reports from locals who've received texts from an apparently local number which offers the recipient a chance to be involved in a multi million pound money making scheme.
Officers are warning that the message - which alleges its author is called James Woo from SEIB Bank - is in fact bogus.
Authorities took to social media to advise any residents who receive this contact to not reply and delete it from their device.
