Police are warning people about cold-calling tradespeople after a number of reports.
Officers say those involved have been knocking on doors offering to do work - but say many are from the UK or Ireland and may not have the right to work on the Island.
They say you should always ask for identification, never deal with cold-calling traders, or pay large amounts of cash up front.
And if you're approached n this way, you can report incidents to the Office of Fair Trading on 686500.
