Police say the Sloc will be closed until at least 2pm as they search the area.
Officers say an incident happened shortly after midnight and the road is closed between the Round Table and Ballakillowey.
They say people shouldn't be alarmed and there is no risk to the public.
In a Facebook post, they've also asked people on social media not to speculate.
