Revellers are being urged to be aware of their limits when it comes to alcohol consumption over the New Year period.
Police say they are working closely with the licensing trade to ensure that people drink responsibly.
Staff working on licensed premises are also being vigilant in reporting any incidents to officers.
Those who drink to excess can put themselves in a vulnerable position or it can lead to offences being committed.
