A culture organisation says it wants to set the record straight about the Island's 'last native Manx speaker'.
Culture Vannin took to Twitter this week on the anniversary of Ned Maddrell's death in 1974.
He's commonly held to have been the last speaker of the language who grew up with it.
But Culture Vannin says since his death, there are now plenty of other Manx speakers who've lived with the tongue all their lives.
On the day of #NedMaddrell's death in 1974, it's important to say loud & clear:

NEW MADDRELL WAS NOT THE LAST NATIVE #MANX SPEAKER!
There are many living today who grew up with the language from birth, & more join them each year. #gaelg aboo!https://t.co/7NtHDjmyGX pic.twitter.com/co3X6hTdrB
