A plaque has been erected to honour the “best horologist in the world” at his home in Ramsey.
George Daniels had an illustrious career as a maker of the modern era’s finest watches up until his death in 2011 – and his legacy lives on.
Love of his trade also saw him nurture the talents of Roger Smith, another Manx resident and a paragon of the industry.
Zoe Guilford is the co-writer of “The Watchmaker’s Apprentice”, a biographical film about Smith’s relationship with his mentor, she says the recognition is well-deserved:
