Planned changes to employment laws will be introduced to the House of Keys next week.
If passed, the Employment Bill 2025 would mean parents of babies in the neonatal care unit could take up to 12 weeks of extra parental leave.
Meanwhile unpaid carers would be able to take leave from work for a week each year, or longer periods.
The Bill will have its first reading in the House of Keys on Tuesday, December, 2.
