'People's champion' Karran out of election race

Onchan MHK Peter Karran won't be standing for re-election at September's General Election.

The news was confirmed by the Liberal Vannin Party over the weekend - it follows more than 30 years in public office.

Party chairman Roy Redmayne has described Mr Karran as a "people's champion" saying he's always stood up for what is right "regardless of the consequences".
