A pensioner who crashed into an oncoming car in Ramsey was just under twice the drink- drive limit, a court’s heard.
Robert Fraser Corlett of Clenagh Road in Sulby appeared before magistrates at Douglas Courthouse.
He admitted drink-driving his Mercedes SL350 on Queen’s Promenade on April 2.
The court heard the 69 year old hit an Audi A3 as he turned into Dale Street in Ramsey, leaving both vehicles damaged.
Police noticed he was unsteady on his feet and at police headquarters a blood sample showed he was over the limit.
David Clegg, defending, said his client had drunk a glass of bourbon and didn’t realise he was over the limit when he got behind the wheel.
Magistrates fined Corlett £1,000 and ordered him to pay £125 costs as well as banning him from the roads for two years.
