Last Saturday (July 22) 4-year-old Kaiden Taylor was playing with a remote control and somehow managed to release the button battery, proceeding to swallow it.
His Dad - Ryan Taylor - says his Mother - who was with Kaiden at the time - noticed immediately and took him up to A&E.
Kaiden was taken for an X-ray, which showed the battery was stuck in his oesophagus - as a result, he had to be airlifted to Alder Hey in Liverpool for further treatment.
His operation to remove the battery was successful - however - it had caused a lot of damage from alkaline leaking inside his oesophagus.
Kaiden is currently in the critical care unit - where he'll remain for three weeks- to be monitored.
Ryan has described the last few days as 'absolutely terrifying' and says the family were told if the battery was inside Kaiden for any longer, it could have been fatal.
In a post on social media, Ryan says his son is 'slowly on the road to recovery' and has thanked all the Doctors and Nurses at Alder Hey for the care and support.
