Over 500 items from the former prison on Victoria Road are going under the hammer today.

Former Prisoner Governor Tony Hawkes worked in the prison for 34 years and told 3FM why people might be so interested in having a look around the site. (audio above)

He says it's a shame the building will be lying empty and hope's it can be turned into a useful building.
