Over 100 ideas for £1 million heritage bequest

Manx National Heritage has recieved more than 100 responses following a consultation to determine how it should spend £1 million they were recently left by a local man.

The generous bequest came from Colby man John Donald Collister who left his estate to the Manx nation.

Mr Collister died in 2007 at the age of 93 - he also left a number of historical artefacts, amongst them his extensive Second World War memorabilia collection.

Some of the suggestions from the consultation include financial support to community and gardening projects and building conservation and wildlife projects.

Each of the responses will be reviewed by the MNH's newly formed trustee body, with feedback given to respondents in the autumn.
