Basking Shark Sightings Still Being Reported Despite Colder Weather
With the Summer now seeming to be a distant memory the
hoards of basking sharks that arrive year on year are now steadily departing Manx
waters.
The Island is fast becoming regarded as one of the best places in the World to view the gentle giants, with camera crews from around the Globe flocking here each summer.
According to the Marine Officer for the Manx Wildlife Trust Eleanor Stone, it was a strange summer for shark sightings.
Although the official figures are yet to be collated she said sightings were down on previous years.
There were many reported sightings off Peel, but they opted to stay away from usual busy areas like Port Erin Bay and the Calf of Man.
