Roger W Smith, who received the accolade from Princes Charles in Buckingham palace last week has called it a 'privilege' for both him and for British watchmaking.
In an article on the company website, Mr Smith says it's a 'huge honour' for he and his family, but also hopes it's a recognition all UK watchmakers can be proud of.
The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire was established in 1917, and has been awarded to some of the most notable figures in Britain and the commonwealth.
