Nursing shortage means lack of staff on ward overnight

Staff shortages on a medical and elderly ward at Noble's Hospital have left one nurse covering the night shift on their own.

That's the admission from the Department of Health and Social Care - Ward 5 is currently short of seven nursing staff.

Two nurses and two healthcare assistants should cover the overnight period however Minister Howard Quayle admits that doesn't always happen:

Bank staff are being used to try and plug the shortfall - Mr Quayle says he's hopeful that a long term solution can be found in the near future:
