No plans to change tax assessment for unmarried couples

Treasury has no plans to change how long term cohabiting couples are assessed for income tax purposes. 

That's the admission from the Minister Alf Cannan who says they won't be jointly assessed like married couples or those in civil partnerships. 

In Tynwald this week he disputed claims that the current system is 'unfair': 

Mr Cannan told the court the Isle of Man's system is better than many other places around the world:
