The large majority of Island businesses don't offer paid maternity leave, according to statistics.
The latest Business Confidence Survey from the government found 84 per cent of those who responded don't offer it.
Meanwhile, 9.7 per cent of those who replied say they offer pay for three months or less; 6.3 per cent for three to six months, and none for six to 12 months.
The findings also revealed the highest proportion of businesses offering paid maternity leave of any duration was in financial services at 50 per cent.
