An Onchan MHK has queried how much importance government puts on children walking to school:
That's David Quirk - he raised the issue in the House of Keys this week with the Department of Education and Children.
All children who live within a one-mile radius of their school are expected to walk and are encouraged to do so.
However department member Bill Malarkey says it isn't their responsibility to make that happen:
