The Island won't get a referendum on scrapping net zero - because there's a general election next year.
Middle MHK Stu Peters had asked Tynwald members to back having a public vote on the Island's environmental policies.
But during a debate today which lasted around four hours, Environment, Food and Agriculture Minister Clare Barber introduced an amendment ruling out the referendum.
Members backed the amended motion which pointed out the public will have its say on all policies during elections for the House of Keys next September.
