Douglas lifeboat launched last night after a medical emergency was declared on board a vessel off the coast of Laxey.
The volunteer crew was called out shortly before 11.15pm to go to the aid of an ill seaman.
The Sir William Hillary met the boat off Clay Head, where the man was transferred to the lifeboat.
He was brought safely back to Douglas Harbour and transferred to an ambulance which took him to Noble's Hospital.
