The Department of Infrastructure says it wants to improve the energy efficiency of the Tynwald building by installing new doors.
It's submitted a planning application for the building's entrance on Finch Road in Douglas.
It says it wants to put in new sliding doors, which it says will solve the problem of wind blowing in through the existing entrance.
The DOI says it would also install a stainless steel handrail and glass balustrade to improve accessibility.
