A charity appeal set up by the Mayoress of Douglas has raised nearly £16,000 for a series of Island charities.
Mayoress Angela Joughin's 2019-20 appeal has generated £15,700 and the two nominated charities for the cause - Heroes on the Water and Housing Matters - will receive £7,000 each.
Meanwhile, £500 and £200 awards have also been handed out to Dot’s Dream Foundation, Ellan Vannin Home, Huntington’s Disease IOM, Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy Isle of Man, Isle of Man Foodbank and Relay For Life Isle of Man.
Mayoress Joughin, who set up the campaign with her husband, Mayor Jon Joughin, says it's been 'truly inspirational' for them 'to have witnessed the hard work and dedication of so many voluntary organisations and individuals helping to transform people’s lives'.
