Nearly 1 in 7 affected by poverty, says report

A Tynwald committee set up to look into poverty levels on the Island says the court should continue its work.

The Select Committee on Poverty's final report of the last parliament says it's contributed to a better understanding of the problem, including how poverty is measured.

But in the document, which will be laid before members in October, it says 14 per cent of the Manx population are still affected by poverty.

The committee's recommending its work should continue through a further select committee over the next five years.
