Operation Increment Cracks Down on Local Criminal Gang
This week police have carried out a successful intelligence led operation which has resulted in the arrest of 12 local men and women, 8 of whom have now been charged with money laundering and drug related offences.
Operation Increment was jointly executed by officers from across the constabulary, including the financial crime unit, drug trafficking unit and officers from the neighbourhood policing teams.
The operation was a crack down on a local criminal gang who through their exploits had been benefiting greatly from the proceeds of their crimes.
The police have called this is an ongoing operation.
Detective Inspector John Scarffe of the Island’s Financial Crime Unit said;
'The intention of conducting operations like this is to keep our community safe, reducing the harm caused by criminals by targeting those who profit from their crimes and where applicable take their profits from them. Where appropriate those profits may be used against them to fund further similar police operations'.
