Minister Cretney wants to see Woolworths and Maley's Chemist sites re-occupied

High-level talks concerning future of Woolworth\'s site are ongoing, with Topshop citing September as a move in date, earlier in the year.

It’s now 2 and a half years since the Woolworths store on strand street closed its doors for the last time, laying empty ever since.

The company were the high streets biggest victim of the credit crunch, having to cease business after 100 years of trading.

Back in February it was confirmed to 3FM by Topshop’s press office that they would be moving into the store in September, we’re currently seeking confirmation from their Press Office that this is still the case.

Community Culture and Leisure Minister David Cretney told 3FM that he is not aware of a definitive move date as yet, but he knows high-level talks are ongoing.

He said it’s imperative for the high street that both the Woolworths and adjacent Maley’s Chemist site are both re-occupied soon.
