Minister: avoid cheap homemade drinks when abroad

Cabinet Office Minister David Ashford says public health will continue issuing guidance to Manx residents to stay safe abroad.

He was replying to a question for written answer from Douglas East MHK Joney Faragher about the dangers of methanol poisoning.

Mr Ashford says Public Health Isle of Man says travellers should heed advice from organisations such as the UK Health Security Agency about contaminated alcohol overseas.

In his response, he also says holidaymakers should take sensible precautions, including buying from reputable premises, and avoiding counterfeit, unlabelled or cheap homemade booze.
