Unite the Union has accused an MHK of giving a ‘two fingered salute’ to manual workers.
It’s after people working for the civil service were awarded a 0.5 per cent pay increase for 2013 and a further 2 per cent increase for this year.
Michael MHK Alf Cannan is the chairman of both the civil service commission and the Whitley Council manual workers.
Unite says this demonstrates he has two faces when it comes to his chairing of the two roles.
However Mr Cannan has branded the accusation ‘ridiculous’ and says he is fed up of childish games being played by the union:
