The Health Minister has taken a swipe at an MHK for “distracting” a clinician at Noble’s Hospital from her work.
East Douglas MHK Brenda Cannell asked David Anderson in the House of Keys why large numbers of breast patients are being recalled to discuss previous biopsy tests.
The Minister said the new clinician – Millie Bello – was reviewing her patient caseload and as part of this 17 people were on the early recall system.
This, he said, was not a large number as the hospital screens 5,000 a year.
Mr Anderson added that it was most unfortunate she had to be distracted from her work in treating patients to supply the information and says she shouldn’t be subject to constant political scrutiny of her clinical decision making.
