A Rushen MHK is calling for a Tynwald committee to investigate the effects of poverty on the Island.
Speaker of the House of Keys Juan Watterson will ask Tynwald to back the idea when the court sits later this month.
He says the three-strong group would look into the causes of poverty and assess how well the government's tackling the problem.
His motion says it's a complex problem that involves various government departments, charities and personal responsibility.
