The Office of fair trading is investigating the proposed takeover of Pinewood Studios, by a property investment company owned by an Isle of Man resident.
The major British film studios Pinewood is behind the James Bond and Harry Potter films.
Peel Holdings, who won the takeover bid, is chaired by John Whittaker who lives in the Billown Mansion in the South of the Island.
The OFT says the deal could be referred to the Competition Commission.
