As the island braces itself for a rise in gas prices, Manx Gas is promising to undertake a review in six months time.
Bills for about 20,000 gas customers on the island are set to rise by as much as £40 from the start of next year.
The move, which was backed in Tynwald yesterday, will mean a hike of 27.5% in bills during the winter following the soaring cost of wholesale gas.
Treasury Minister David Ashford has promised a million pounds of support to help those on low to middle incomes.
He said those who qualify for the £350 winter fuel bonus will get an extra £100 in January.
Manx Gas has promised to review prices in six months, should the markets change.
