Manx Gas is reminding residents to remain aware after a report of a potential scam.
On social media it says a Manx Utilities customer has advised of a man posing as a meter reader for the MUA but wasn't genuine.
The organisation says it hopes this is a one-off incident which has been reported to authorities.
It added that employees will always carry photo ID and gas safe cards, and that people have every right to see them if they're not shown.
If unsure you can call them on 644444.
