A man who grabbed his neighbour by the neck has been jailed.
James Jeremy Rennison of Clarence Terrace in Douglas appeared before magistrates at Douglas Courthouse.
The 52 year old pleaded guilty to one count of using provoking behaviour on July 27.
Prosecutor Hazel Carroon told the hearing CCTV showed Rennison grabbing the man and pushing him backwards off a chair in their shared garden at around 9.30pm.
The court heard he’d told police the man had threatened him and he’d acted to defend himself, but refused to answer questions when shown camera footage that didn’t match his story.
Magistrates heard Rennison had recently found work as a hotel porter and had spent a week in custody.
They jailed him for 14 days, meaning he was freed the day he appeared in court, and ordered him to pay £125 costs.
