A man will be sentenced in the Island’s higher court after admitting having almost £40,000 worth of cannabis posted to him from the UK.
Stephen Graham Whittaker of Circular Road in Douglas appeared before Deputy High Bailiff James Brooks at Douglas Courthouse.
The 27 year old pleaded guilty to being concerned in producing cannabis, possessing the class B drug and attempting to possess it with intent to supply on June 17.
The court heard police intercepted a package containing £39,902 worth of cannabis and went to his home to arrest him.
There, they found a further six grammes of the drug.
Defence advocate Paul Rodgers told the hearing his client used the drug for medical reasons and was keen to complete outstanding hours of community service imposed for a previous offence.
Whittaker was bailed in the sum of £500 and committed to the Court of General Gaol Delivery for sentencing.
He’ll appear in the higher court on July 22.
