Ian Gardner, of Queens Terrace in Douglas, appeared before Deputy High Bailiff Rachael Braidwood at Douglas Courthouse.
The 62-year-old denies criminal damage after an incident in a lane off Woodbourne Square in Douglas on July 2 last year.
A vehicle was left with £1,008 worth of damage to its paint work after a key was used to scratch it.
The case was adjourned until June 27 and Mr Gardner was bailed in the sum of £500.
