A Ramsey man has been handed a 30-week suspended prison sentence after breaking down the door of his ex-girlfriend's flat in a bid to discuss custody of his daughter.
29-year-old Shaun David Bignell, of Armadale House, then attacked the woman and her partner in the early hours of November 17th.
At Douglas Courthouse on Tuesday Bignell's advocate said his client was 'at somewhat of a loss' to explain his actions describing the incident as 'bizarre'.
The court heard Bignell had burst into the property on North Shore Road just before 4am - his four year-old daughter was asleep at the time.
Bignell hit the other man in the face before attempting to strangle him, kneeling on his chest, biting his toe and stamping on his knee.
He pinned the woman to the floor before grabbing at her breasts and wolf whistling - he later admitted common and indecent assault and damaging property.
Suspending Bignell's sentence for two years, and imposing a Supervision Order Deputy High Bailiff Jayne Hughes asked him: "What on earth possessed you?"
She also ordered him to pay compensation and prosecution costs and imposed a licensing ban telling him: "It must have been extremely frightening for both of them."
