A man who was more than twice the legal limit when stopped by police has been banned from the roads for three years.
Lee Joseph Bargh of Falcon Cliff Terrace in Douglas appeared before High Bailiff Jayne Hughes at Douglas Courthouse.
The 43 year old pleaded guilty to driving while over the limit on Bathurst Street in Douglas on August 5.
The court heard police spoke to him just after 8.30am and noticed Bargh’s eyes were glazed.
He failed a roadside breath test and at police headquarters turned out to be twice over the limit, telling officers he’d been drinking the night before and had had a can of lager that morning.
After hearing Bargh is still on probation after resisting arrest last year, Mrs Hughes fined him £1,000 and ordered him to pay £125 costs.
He was also banned from getting behind the wheel for three years, and will also have to pass an extended test and complete a drink-drive course before he can have his licence back.
