A man who knocked out a pubgoer in an unprovoked attack left his victim needing five staples in his head, a court’s heard.
Callum Thomas Radcliffe of Mona Drive in Douglas appeared before magistrates at Douglas Courthouse.
The 31 year old pleaded guilty to wounding on November 13 – prosecutor Barry Swain withdrew a charge of disorderly behaviour on licensed premises.
The court heard Radcliffe had been drinking in Jaks on Douglas Promenade and left the pub at 3am, but punched another man in the head.
When his victim fell to the floor unconscious, he banged his head on the pavement leaving him with a large gash that needed treatment in hospital.
Magistrates said the case was so serious it would have to be heard in the Court of General Gaol Delivery.
They bailed him to appear in the higher court on January 28.
