A Douglas man who assaulted a police officer after drunkenly falling and injuring himself has avoided being sent to prison.
David Anderson, of Head Road, appeared before magistrates at Douglas Courthouse.
The 42-year-old admitted being drunk and incapable and assaulting police on January 11 and being drunk in public on October 20 last year.
Both times, he was found with a head injury after falling and was taken to A&E - in January he kicked a police officer in the shin while in hospital.
Magistrates imposed a 12-month prison sentence suspended for 12 months and ordered him to pay £175 costs and £150 compensation.
