Man admits offence against Island's High Bailiff

A Castletown man has pleaded guilty to causing the Island's High Bailiff to believe he was at risk of immediate, unlawful violence.

21-year-old Christopher Lunt admitted the public order offence at Douglas Courthouse yesterday.

On May 30th he was in a courtroom at the Isle of Man Courts of Justice when an associate's bail application was refused by John Needham.

Lunt began swearing and shouting before vaulting over the public gallery partition and running towards the bench - a female court clerk tried to push him away suffering bruising in the process.

The prosecutor and security officers managed to restrain Lunt who was then arrested.

A charge of common assault on a female has been withdrawn - sentencing has been deferred as Lunt now has other matters before the court, he'll next appear on September 23rd.
