Major changes proposed to government's employment structure

The Chief Minister’s desire to cut bureaucracy and improve efficiency in Government has taken another step forward.

The proposals would see a Public Services Commission set up which would bring civil servants and manual/craft workers together under one employing authority.

The PSC would then be able to deliver consistent policies across a workforce of more than 4,000, representing half of Government’s staff.

The Council of Ministers has commissioned a review into the proposals to identify what benefits it’s implementation could bring.
