New nature material is being distributed to schools across the island to keep them acquainted with the natural world.
The book entitled The Lost Words, by Robert McFarlane, reprises common words excised from dictionaries such as acorn, conker and dandelion.
The initiative has been put together by retired school special unit manager, Heather Hurt and supported by the Society for the Preservation of the Manx Countryside and Environment (SPMCE).
The society's chairman, Charles Flynn, says they are happy to support the initiative and help keep the younger generations' connection to the rich Manx natural landscape.
